I love to program.
I’ve been programming for over 27 years.
I think I like programming because there is always something new to learn. It’s been extremely fascinating to watch as computers, hardware and software have evolved over the years.
I think it is to my advantage to not only know how to write code but to also know what’s going on behind the scenes. Knowing the history of why things work the way they do or how they evolved to this point helps us to understand the reasoning behind why it needs to be done the way it’s done. Accepting that ‘this works’ on faith is sometimes not enough.
I often look back through the years and stand in awe of how things have come so far in such a short (at least it seems short to me) period of time. It often helps me to know the how and why of why we do things the way we do or what it is about doing it that way that makes it work the way it does.
One thing I love almost as much as learning new things is sharing that with others. This blog is just about me and what I learn as I play with programming. Although I’m writing this to try and help you, I am mostly doing it for me. I love to learn. I love to write. I love to share. If you gain something from that in the process, my joy is increased.
Now, let’s go learn something new!
